Bring student(s) to an outdoor space. Have the students take some time to find a number of leaves to use for the activity. Encourage this time of scavenging to be quiet and mindful. After a short period of time, have students return to you and give you the leaves they have collected. You, the teacher, can decide to either write a strength word per leaf yourself or have your students write words on the leaves. When all leaves have one word on them, have each student pick a leaf from the pile for themselves and one for another student (you can decide whether you pick who gives a leaf to whom or let the students have their choice, but ensure every student receives one leaf from a peer). Afterwards, students sit in a circle and share why the chose the word for themselves but also their peer.
Sit with the student/group of students outside. They will be immersed in nature as they think about qualities of strength witin themselves and others.
Depending on how much time is alloted for this activity, you can pair this activity with a gratefulness/positivity meditation.

Bring the student(s) outside and have them gather bouquets of leaves, branches, flowers (NOT planted flowers, maybe dandelions) and have then return to you and sit in a circle. Once all students return back in a timely manner, have them think about who they would want to give the bouquet to and how much that person means to them. After appropriate think time has been alloted, go around and listen to everyone's responses. Afterwards, give the students the option of discarding their bouquets to a designated area or keep to give to the person they wanted to give it to.
Conduct this activity in an outdoor setting. The student(s) will collect pieces of nature and therefore be exploring the natural world around them.
SELF-AWARENESS
- Recognize one’s feelings and thoughts.
SELF-AWARENESS
- Establish and maintain healthy relationships.

Prior to bringing the students outside, have each one identify one improvement they can make on school grounds (source examples are picking up garbage, decorating the area using chalk, and pulling weeds). When you have confirmed each student has a role, take them outside to execute that job. Afterwards, have students come back inside and host a short discussion and have students reflect on the following questions:
- How did it go?
- Did I achieve what I set out to do?
- If so, how did this make me feel?
- If not, what prevented me from achieving the goal? Is there anything I could do differently next time?
Students will be practicing their decision-making skills through the lens of the environment. They will think about the impact they and others have on nature.
RESPONSIBLE DECISION-MAKING
- Develop, implement, and model effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

(This can also be considered a mindfulness activity.)
Bring student(s) outside and have them find 1-3 leaves, preferably different kinds (i.e., shape, color). When they've collected their leaves, sit together and observe one leaf. Have the student explain aloud three things they notice about the leaf, and then go into what other ways the student can describe the leaf through their senses (crunch sound, smell, texture, etc). Repeat this process with as many leaves as desired.
Students will be closely interacting with nature and thinking about the environment.
